Green Roofs
A green roof is created when living plants are grown on a roof structure. Green roofs help combat the effect of pollution, reduce flood risk by absorbing rainfall, promote biodiversity, and reduce the 'urban heat island effect'.
A common feature in Paris, Venice, Berlin and Basel, green roofs are now bringing the same benefits across the United Kingdom. New construction techniques allow for many diffrent types of green roofs, from natural meadows and wildlife habitats to allotments and formal gardens the opportunities are endless.
Working closely with the University of Sheffield's Dr Nigel Dunnett and the Green Roof Centre, Lindum has developed vegetation mixtures to suit a range of green roof environments. They aim to help manage and enhance the urban environment whilst creating aesthetically pleasing wildlife habitats to encourage biodiversity. Lindum's biodiverse green roof products are lightweight, easy to install and low maintenance.
